(note:  each candidate will recieve a notice to appear for the subsequent phase of the testing, pending the results of the preceding test phase results)

   After your application is submitted completely and verified by a member of our personnel, you will be given a receipt of completion for this first phase of the recruit process.  This receipt will identify the date and time of the orientation.  The orientation will be held at the Johnston Senior High School (345 Cherry Hill Rd., Johnston, RI) in the auditorium at 8:00am on Saturday, September 24, 2011.  Recruits must appear on time, as the doors will close promptly at 8:00am, and in proper business attire. Bring your license with you and know your application number

     After completing the orientation, recruits will be required to attend the written examination.  The written examination will be held at the Johnston Senior High School in the Cafeteria at 8:00am on Saturday, October 1, 2011.  Recruits must appear on time, as the doors will close promptly at 8:00am, and in proper business attire. The tests will be graded and the scores will be posted in the foyer at Johnston Police Headquarters, and on the recruitment page of our website (www.johnstonpd.com), at 12:00pm on Friday, October 7, 2011.  Bring your license with you and know your application number

     Those recruits that earn a score of 70% or better will then be sent a formal letter requiring them to attend the Department's physical agility test.  The Department's Physical Agility will take place at CCRI, Lincoln (Flanagan Campus, 1762 Louisquisset Pike, Lincoln, RI) in the Athletic Center at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 23, 2011.  Recruits are required to wear a solid color white t-shirt, solid color navy blue shorts, white socks and sneakers.  Water bottles, wrist watches and car keys are permissible, however jewelry (other than marriage bands), headphones, and other similar items are strictly prohibited.  Please secure all cell phones in your vehicle prior to entering the gymnasium.  Bring your license with you and know your application number

     After successful completion of the phsyical agility, recruits will receive notice that they are required to attend the oral board interview process.  The oral board dates and times are yet to be determined. 

     After successful completion of the oral boards, the recruit's background investigation will commence. 

     After successful completion of the background investigation, the Chief's oral interview will take place (dates and times to be determined). 

     Once a recruit has completed the Chief's oral interview, a select few will be required to attend that Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy's physical agility orientation and test (dates and times to be determined).  It should be noted that this phase of the process and all subsequent phases are determined based on the availability of positions within the department.
