Welcome to the Johnston Rhode Island Police Department’s website.  The Johnston Police Department has provided community services for the people of Johnston RI for more than 100 years, and through advancements in technology, training, and professional development, the Johnston Police Department has evolved into one of the finest law enforcement organizations that this state has to offer.   Serving approximately 30,000 residents, in nearly 12,000 households, on over roughly 27 square miles, the Johnston Police Department has quickly grown into one of the busiest, most geographically diverse and industrialized communities in the State of Rhode Island.



 


 

2012-01-06 The Johnston Police proudly announces the promotion of Sgt. Matthew Leduc to the rank of Lieutenant, Patrolman Mark Vieira to the rank of Sergeant and Patrolman Mario Mennella sworn in as a permanent police officer after successfully completing his probationary year.  Below are a couple of photos from the ceremony.

 

 


 

Historical Photos WANTED!!!

The Johnston Police Department is seeking out retired members of the Department and their friends/families to send in old photos or news clippings of the police officers, equipment, station, etc.  These items will be featured on a historical page that is in the works.  Photos can be emailed to the Operations and Training Division via the feedback@johnstonpd.com email address, or originals may be dropped off or mailed to headquarters at 1651 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI 02919.  The pictures will be scanned by Sgt. Benson and immediately mailed back to the owners.  We would really like to memorialize the hard work and dedication that the older generation of Johnston Police officers have made to our Department and our Town, and truly appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.  Please forward this reqest to any and all who may be interested in contributing to this project.  Thank you.

 


 Domestic Violence Law Enforcement Advocate

The Johnston Police would like to introduce the Department's new Domestic Violence Law Enforcement Advocate.  Dan Ormond, a retired North Kingstown Police Department Sergeant has been hired as the Department's new Domestic Violence Advocate.  Dan is here on a part-time basis and is shared with the Cranston Police Department.  His position is grant funded and is truly an asset to the Town of Johnston.  Dan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Department and we are proud to have him aboard.  If you have any domestic violence related questions, please feel free to contact Dan at JPD Headquarters (401)231-4210 x3152 or by email at dormondcpdlea@gmail.com
